Originally built as a casino but never opened, the building served as headquarters for U.S. forces following the 1944 landing. It was later used as a filming location for several movies, including one directed by Federico Fellini. Originally conceived as a luxury venue for social events\u2014including exhibitions, fashion shows, and a casino\u2014it featured an elegant Art Nouveau design with a semicircular fa\u00e7ade and domed towers overlooking the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Tyrrhenian Sea<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"540\" data-end=\"862\">The building quickly became a cultural and social hub, admired for its architectural harmony with the surrounding seaside villas and its appeal to the early 20th-century bourgeoisie. However, this stylistic movement declined under Fascist cultural policies, making the Paradiso an important historical example of that era.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"906\">Over time, the building served many roles:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"1199\">\n<li data-section-id=\"nvo8mb\" data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"963\">A venue for concerts, exhibitions, and public events<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"srox2a\" data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1011\">A popular dance hall in the 1960s (\u201cMomus\u201d)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"79qk3t\" data-start=\"1012\" data-end=\"1084\">Allied headquarters during the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Allied landing at Anzio<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1xevcur\" data-start=\"1085\" data-end=\"1199\">A film location for works like <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Amarcord<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Polvere di stelle<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1395\">In 1968, it was repurposed as a hotel management school (Marco Apicio Institute), but declining use led to partial closure by 1978. Some areas were later used by the local archaeological museum.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1397\" data-end=\"1619\">Due to severe structural deterioration, the building was declared unfit for use in 2015 and closed.
